Spiritvoyager Explorer Program

Mind Conditioning (1st Quarter)

Congratulations on your decision to participate in the Explorer Program! Following are

some important preparations you will need to get started on today.

Make a Journal

Following are a few items that you can buy or collect from home to start your dream

journal.

· Pen

· Notebook (preferably one that is not loose-leaf)

· Calendar (Put up your calendar in the same area where you'll be keeping your journal)

· Clock or Watch (Use your time piece to record the time your sessions begin and the time they end)

Mental Preparations

The Spiritvoyager's Life Style

Practitioners of astral projection and lucid dreaming are unlike most people; they live very

quiet, calm, carefree lives. As a practitioner, your mind should be

clear and free of negative, thought-consuming obsessions, as obsessions will drain your

mental energy and leave you earthbound. If your environment or life style is saturated

with negative people or obsessions, then you will need to make some changes, and here

are a few tips to help you.

If there are people in your life who you cannot stand and there is no way to completely

avoid them, just allow them and their influence to slip from your mind; don't give people

the pleasure of being able to cease control of your thoughts and drain your mental energy.

Another extremely powerful, thought-consuming, potentially life-altering influence is

sexual obsession. Sexual obsession has a vicious appetite and will devour everything in

one's life that has any true value including individuality.

Another example of a negative, thought-consuming influence is stress. If you find yourself

stressing over school or work, try to change something. Alter your schedule some way

so you can have some time to yourself. You will need to do this anyway in order to make

time for your practice sessions. If your workload is too much, see what you can do to cut

it down. One aspect to remember about stress is that it can actually cause health

problems, and what on earth is worth that?

The list of negative influences will change with every person, so what you need to do is sit

down and make a list of influences in your personal life that are mentally unsettling and

then figure out ways to overcome them.

Enrichment Activities

Any degree of success in this art usually takes time, and it's not uncommon for students to

lose motivation before they start to enjoy experiences. Of course the desire to learn will

continue to linger, but without motivation to follow through with daily practice, too much

time will pass between sessions, and goals will begin to seem unachievable. For this

reason it's important to realize this problem right in the beginning and take the necessary

steps to overcome it, and re-kindling your motivation daily is the solution.

This "re-kindling" can be accomplished through enrichment activities.

Enrichment activities can include listening to music, reading books, writing down your

goals and fantasies, meditating and drawing just to name a few. The most effective

enrichment activities will be those that include all you thought, watched, listened to or

read when you "first" took an interest in this art. So when you sit down to make your

enrichment activities, keep this in mind and think deeply.

Committing to your daily enrichment activities is the single most important thing you need

to do in order to see success. When you possess a strong motivation, true desire, and a

passion for the work, everything else will naturally fall into place.

Make a schedule

Another important preparation to get started on right away is a schedule that will organize

your day so you will have time for enrichment activities, and meditation sessions. It's also

important to schedule a bedtime so you're not going to bed at different times every night.

Your body functions on a biological clock, and there is nothing like jumbled sleep

schedules to slow or even stop your progression.

Goals and Affirmations

After you've done the above preparations, sit down with your new journal and open it up

to the first page. On this page make a list of goals by writing down all you would like to

get out of the Explorer Program; write down activities you only dream about doing with

your ability to travel beyond your physical body. This list will be the foundation of your

first affirmations. See the section on affirmations in the “Guide of Basics” booklet.

Applying Your Goals to Enrichment Activities

Applying your list of goals to your enrichment activities can be very effective. For one

example of how this can be done, consider the following. If one of your goals is to visit a

loved one while in the out-of-body state, go to his/her house and walk around imagining

that you are there in spirit. If you're a fan of nature and would like to visit some beautiful

natural location while out of body, choose someplace and go there physically. After all,

going on a daylong hike once in a while can do wonders for your physical and

psychological wellbeing. If you are a fan of flying, visit a theme park where you can

spend the whole day on the rollercoaster rides. Doing this type of activity just prior to a

practice session can produce some pretty amazing results!

There are countless activities you can perform to apply your goals to your enrichment

activities to make them enjoyable and effective, so use your imagination and have fun.

The better your enrichment activities are, the longer your passion for the art will remain

and the sooner you will become proficient in nonphysical exploration.

Applying Meditation to Real Life

Keep in mind that it's important to meditate for as long as you feel necessary; however, as

a daily practice try to KEEP IT SHORT. Otherwise, your daily meditation sessions won't

last a week let alone the amount of time it takes to begin experiencing the other existence.

Remember also that you can meditate anywhere! If you take the bus to school or work,

meditate on your way. During the day most people, no matter if they're at school or work,

will have a break time and what better way to use break time than to spend a couple

minutes of it meditating?

When done faithfully, the above exercises will lead to enhanced awareness, and very

vivid dreams, sometimes of flying, which are easy to remember; these are key

experiences, and it is through these experiences that you will know you're ready for the

second quarter of the Explorer Program (Dream Control). Remember, your goal isn't to

get to the next quarter but to achieve the experiences that will take you there. So take

your time, be patient and have fun with it.
