Spiritvoyager Explorer Program Controlled Projection (3d Quarter)
Welcome to the 3d quarter of the Explorer Program! In “Controlled Projection” we will experiment more with conditioning exercises and affirmations that are more conductive to the out-of-body experience. Our goal is to learn O.B.E. induction in much the same way we did with lucid dreaming so you will be able to lie down, do your relaxation exercises and simply think “O.B.E.” in order to slip into one. We call this method the Teleport Technique, and you can read about it in the Guide of Basics manual under “Exiting the Body.” With the out-of-body experience right at your fingertips, you can learn to relax and experiment more extensively with the out-of-body state and get more out of each practice.
Things You Will Need
1. A stack of at least 20 poster or index cards 2. A close friend or relative to assist in the following experiments 3. One more journal exclusively for recording out-of-body experiences
Exercises
There are many exercises you can perform during out-of-body exploration that will teach you to control your thought and action while in the out-of-body state. It is in this level that your close friend or family member (experiment assistant) will really come in useful. Following are just a couple of experiments: one using the cards and another for practicing movement while in the projected state. After reading them, I'm sure you'll be able to come up with more ideas on your own. If this happens, don't hesitate to share them with the group; even though your style of practice may not work for everybody, I'm sure you'll be helping somebody within the group.
Seeing From the Projected State
Using your poster or index cards, draw a simple, unique shape or a picture on each. Do not draw your shapes or pictures too complicated or use numbers or letters at least for now; it is not uncommon for objects to appear upside down and/or backwards while in the out-of-body state. Imagine looking at an upside down “9” or a backwards “d”! After you've made your cards, put them in a pile with all cards facing up. Then before performing the experiment, give the cards to your helper for shuffling. After your helper has shuffled your cards, have them placed in a location where you can easily view them from the projected state. After becoming proficient in viewing the cards while they are in your immediate projection area, have your helper take the cards home with him/her or to another location and then practice projecting there. By using this experiment you can work on your accuracy in viewing objects while out of body and projecting to further destinations. The cards will prove your accuracy as well as your skill.
Movement While In the Projected State
In the last experiment, you will be practicing movement while in the out-of-body state. Before performing your usual conditioning exercises prior to experimentation, choose one movement to perform. This movement can be as simple as touching your finger to your nose or lifting your arms out to the side. If you're a martial artist, you may eventually be able to perform an entire kata (choreographed fight movements) while in the projected state, but for now keep it simple. After choosing your movement, perform it ten times physically without losing count. Then assume whatever position you prefer for O.B.E. induction and go through the “Practice Tips for OBE Induction” in the Guide of Basics. Make sure to apply your movement to #2 in the practice tips as something to do during your out-of-body excursion. When your experience is over, make sure to record ANYTHING AND EVERYTHIN that happened. In this practice even the most seemingly insignificant experiences can be the most significant.
Affirmations
As discussed in the Guide of Basics, affirmations play a vital roll in helping to push forward our progression in this art. In this level “Controlled Projection” we will slightly alter the previous affirmations we used for lucid dreaming so they apply to out-of-body exploration. With the above exercises in mind, read “Affirmations” in the Guide of Basics and make some affirmations that apply to them. For example, in regards to the first exercise, one could create an affirmation stating, “After getting out of body I will look at the cards.” For the second exercise one could create an affirmation stating, “I will remember my movements.” There is no doubt you will find many types of exercises that work better for you than others; just remember to apply affirmations to whatever you come up with; doing this will allow you to progress faster and get more out of each practice.
Automatic Astral Projection
There are a lot of different shades of experiences between the lucid dream and the out-of-body experience, and even as similar as the two experiences can seem at times, they are completely different. It's important that Explorers learn to distinguish the two experiences because each provides us with unique benefits. As an Explorer who has the capability to explore both experiences at will, you can learn what those benefits are and use them to your advantage. If you have become successful in automatic lucid dreaming as discussed under “Lucid Dream Induction” in the Guide of Basics, you can know how easy automatic projection can become; it's simply a matter of changing gears or, in the case of the Explorer Program, removing your training wheels. If you haven't already, get familiar with the chapters pertaining to out-of-body exploration starting with “The Vibration State” and ending with “Exiting the Body” in the Guide of Basics and do the above preparations and exercises. Begin working with it the "Teleport Technique" and get good at it. Soon, just as you can induce a lucid dream simply by lying down and thinking of your desire to do so, you will be able to induce an O.B.E. With this powerful ability you will gain an edge in this art that will grant you the tools to achieve that which very few are able to.
